moveman Installs Platform Lift At Environmental Centre

In the heart of Hertfordshire lies Rothamsted, the largest agricultural research centre in the UK. The recent installation of a movemanSKG platform lift has brought the centre, which is 160 years old, in line with current DDA regulations.

The oldest research centre of its kind in the world, Rothamsted is the work place of scientists and researchers studying the environment, landscapes, genetics and soil processes. Its excellent facilities include farms for arable production, a manor house, library and conference centre.

movemanSKG installed a platform lift in the conference centre, which takes people from the ground floor to the floor above. A Companion Prestige model was chosen, as it is a compact unit, with fully glazed landing doors. The lift is rated for a load of up to 400kgs, which is suitable for a wheelchair user and an accompanying attendant.

The Prestige lift is also Type Approved through the Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation (LANTAC). This means that it is has been registered as complying with building regulations. movemanSKG was the first platform lift supplier to obtain a LANTAC certificate for its lift.

Allen Flay, Electrical and Development Manager at Rothamsted commented, "movemanSKG was chosen because of the high quality of its lifts. The Prestige blends in well with the style and structure of the building in which it is situated, and enables people with a disability to access our conference facilities. We have been very pleased with movemanSKG, who provided an excellent service."
