Barratt Homes, the leading property construction firm, chose movemanSKG to supply a H400 platform lift for the Hub Community & Buildings, a project that forms part of its ten year regeneration programme for the North Prospect area of Plymouth.
The Hub consists of 39 one or two bedroom flats for the over 55s, a community learning centre, library, nursery, shopping facilities and offices. movemanSKG installed its H400 platform lift in the building’s central atrium, which serves as an access route for wheelchair users and others with mobility difficulties.
“We had limited space due to the design of the building but movemanSKG was able to customise the unit to precisely match our specifications”, explains Barratt Homes’ Construction Project Manager James Smith. “We also wanted a high end finish and movemanSKG did not disappoint, fitting stainless steel sliding doors and blue laminate panelling in the car interior. We are very pleased with the lift.”
H400 minimal pit requirement of 150mm was a big plus for Barratt Homes because this minimises the necessary building work with big cost saving implications. The finished unit travels 4,018mm between two floors and features a hands free communication system in case of emergency. A mirror fitted to the back wall enhances visibility for wheelchairs users reversing out of the lift.
movemanSKG’s H400 is the perfect solution for those with access needs. It has a 400kg lifting capacity, travels to a height of 12m and uses advanced hydraulic lifting technology. This reduces energy consumption, making the lift environmentally friendly.
H400 has a vast array of options and can be tailored to suit the customer’s individual tastes. These include six ceiling types with different lighting configurations, such as LED spotlights. Customers can specify the finish to the car panels, floor covering, car door panels and landing doors. Finishes include stainless steel, plastic laminate, painted and PVC. In addition, H400 can be glazed on all three sides.
