High-end platform lift complements sheltered housing complex

A Domuslift installed by movemanSKG, the platform lift renowned for its high-end finish and wide range of customisable options, is allowing wheelchair users to access two newly refurbished connecting buildings overlooking the beautiful Bay of Morecambe, Lancashire.

WW Building Events, a local building firm that also rents property to private tenants, carried out an extensive refurbishment of the buildings, which are in a prime position adjacent to Morecambe's seafront promenade.

Robert Wilson, a Director at WW Building Events, explains: "Before we purchased the two properties they had lain empty and unused for over 20 years, so were in a poor condition with pigeons being the only residents. We renovated both to a very high standard and split them into apartments, which we decided to rent to people over the age of 55 and run as part of a sheltered housing complex.

"A platform lift made good sense because it is difficult for people with mobility problems to climb stairs. movemanSKG came highly recommended, so we consulted its team and chose Domuslift."

movemanSKG installed Domuslift quickly and efficiently inside a surrounding stairwell. It travels 9 metres through seven staggered stops and has a platform measuring 1400mm x 1100mm. This is comfortably big enough to accommodate a wheelchair user plus a carer.

Domuslift comes in practically any colour or finishing material, such as ultra-contemporary aluminium or a classic wood effect to blend into period buildings. In this case WW Building Events opted for a classic cream finish.

High-end options available on the DomusLift include innovative lighting systems, creating interesting 'in-car' environments and atmospheres and the subtle sophistication of touch screen control panels. WW Building Events specified a glass shaft, which looks fantastic in the newly refurbished property and allows natural light to filter through the space.

"The lift complements our new sheltered housing complex perfectly and means we can accommodate tenants with disabilities," continued Robert. "We had a good experience of movemanSKG, from a great service and friendly advice through to a robust, excellent end product."
