Prestige allows independent access at sheltered housing complex

movemanSKG has installed the first of what will be six Prestige platform lifts at Martha’s Court, a sheltered housing complex in Chilworth run by Guildford Borough Council.

St Martha's Court is situated in Nursery Gardens in Chilworth, with landscaped hills overlooking St Martha's Hill. The two storey centrally heated building has 37 one-bedroom flats, which are fully self contained and connected to the emergency communication system. It is well equipped, with facilities such as medical room and hairdressers, and has a large communal lounge used for activities such as lunch club and bingo.

St Martha’s Court offers the elderly safe and secure accommodation. It is an important community resource with a team of housing officers who look after the residents.

Access is important at St Martha’s Court as some of the residents find it difficult to move around. The two Prestige platform lifts installed allow wheelchair users and other less able people to access flats on the first floor. Both units are two-stop and travel 2.7m. They are fitted with power door openers and large mushroom push buttons for easy operation.

A spokesman for Guildford Borough Council, said: “We are very pleased with the Prestige platform lifts, which enable residents to independently move between floors. Installation was carried out with minimal disruption, and both Prestiges are running smoothly.”

movemanSKG offers Prestige with three inclusive service visits in the first year of ownership and a standard twelve month warranty. It comes in a range of colours and finishes, allowing customers to tailor its appearance to suit any environment. This makes it perfect for publicly accessible buildings, such as schools and retail outlets. There is also a wide range of accessories, such as the designated user control (DUC) system, which prevents unauthorised use.
