movemanSKG Prestige Platform Lift Installed at Prestigious Health Club Development

Esporta has, once again, specified a movemanSKG Prestige platform lift for one of its prestigious Health Clubs. The latest installation is at the Repton Manor development in Chigwell, Essex.

With over 207,000 members, Esporta is one of the countries fastest growing health club chains. Its success is built upon two key principles - offering superior facilities and a level of service that is second to none. The Prestige platform lift, at the Chigwell site, has been installed as part of the companies policy to ensure that people with mobility problems can access the wide range of facilities available at its centres.

Located within 158 acres of parkland, Repton Park is a private residential estate. The Esporta Health club is situated in restored Victorian buildings at the centre of the estate and combines the latest health club equipment within the original architecture of a beautifully ornate hall. Its facilities include; a fully equipped gym, fitness studio, 25 metres indoor swimming pool, spa and relaxation area.

Steve Butcher, Esporta Chigwell's General Manager, comments. "The fitness suite, two studios and therapy rooms are situated upstairs. The installation of the movemanSKG platform lift is just one of a series of measures that we have undertaken to ensure that our less mobile members can have access to all of the club's tremendous facilities."

The former Chapel and Great Hall, which house the Health club, are both grade II listed buildings. Consultation with English Heritage, by the site's developer Crest Nicholson, dictated that the restoration should retain as many of the buildings original features as possible and that unnecessary work should be eliminated. The Prestige platform lift is, therefore, ideal. As it only requires a pit with a depth of fifty millimetres and has its own shaft, the Prestige can be installed with a minimum amount of disruption.

"We are really pleased with the performance of the movemanSKG platform lift." Continues Steve. "The members find it extremely easy to use and there is plenty of room for a wheelchair user and another person. Aesthetically, it fits well with the surroundings and does not detract from the club's good looks."

In addition to being manufactured to a customers individual specification, all movemanSKG products are fabricated to meet the most stringent safety standards, codes, and machinery directives. The lift installed at the Health club is attractively finished with glazed doors and side panels and compliments the decor and internal styling of the club. Although, in this particular instance, the lift is only required to travel to one storey, the Prestige is designed to travel up to three storeys, can carry an optimum load of 400kg, and has a generous platform area of 1500 x 1100 mm. Importantly the platforms dimensions meet or exceed the recommendations laid down in the relevant section of the UK Building Regulations and BS 8300, the new code of practice covering disabled access within domestic and public buildings.
